Test automation for bank branch sales system

The client is the second largest mortgage service provider and sixth largest bank in the UK. The bank is part of the top 10 banking groups in the world and the group is ranked amongst the Fortune 100 companies. ITC Infotech operates a dedicated offshore development center (ODC) for the client since last 6 years.

Business Need

The application is a main branch based sales channel system for a range of products such as banking, mortgages and investment products. The system is designed to capture customer information to complete customer profiles, illustrations, quotations & proposals after customer`s sales interview. The application also talks to third-party application for credit referencing and decision making before transmitting the case.

New features are being added to the application and a new release happens almost every month. Manual testing on the application with additional features was consuming lot of time and effort and it was becoming difficult to release a high degree quality product in time. Release of application in time was becoming a bottleneck and was impacting the business. The only way to achieve the time-to-market and quality of product was through automating the regression pack of existing test scripts.

The client wanted to automate the manual test processes to reduce the testing time and effort to achieve faster time-to-market. The client was looking for offshoring the work to reduce the costs.

How We Helped

Since 2003, ITC Infotech’s testing team is providing Sanity Testing, System Testing and User Acceptance Testing for the application. Currently, the project has moved into maintenance phase and new test scripts are being added to the regression pack, whenever a new patch or feature is added to the system.

The team tests the major business critical functionalities in onsite-offshore model thereby provides cost savings as well as onsite presence. The key challenge managed by the project team was setting up the test environment at offshore successfully. Recently the offshore team has set-up the portal version of the application, using which all the business applications can be accessed in one channel.
